Through scaffolded writing activities and sentence starters, learners will develop their oral and written language skills, focusing on one writing skill at a time to master crafting well-structured opinion pieces.

This unit is broken down by part of an opinion piece of writing. Students master one component at a time.

Before taking it to writing, students work through various oral prompts during whole and small groups, practicing introducing a topic, stating an opinion, supplying or giving reasons, and providing a concluding statement.
