Description
ASL Accessibility at the Super Bowl has been a hot topic amongst the Deaf Community and hearing allies for years! This product looks at several resources and links from Deaf authors, footage of Super Bowl coverage over the years, and more and asks students guiding questions based on what they have watched or read.
This activity is best done in jigsaw format. Split students into six "expert" groups to become experts on their time frame. Then expert groups get split up and meet with experts from other time frames to get a whole picture of ASL Accessibility at the Super Bowl through the years.

Product Includes:
- Slides Presentation with six slides of different time frames. Each slide includes 3-4 resources/links and 3-4 guiding questions for the students*
- Directions & Key for the guiding questions
- Handout for note taking in expert groups and when in their jigsaw group

It is recommended to do this activity before the Super Bowl, then to have a class discussion after the Super Bowl about what the current year looked like and how that would have fit into the activity.
Years were chosen based on my personal experience with pivotal moments for ASL Accessibility. You could easily add more content to cover years that are missing!

One of the videos is a Facebook video. School devices often block Facebook videos. I would recommend showing on a staff device, or perhaps students could use their phones not on school network. You could also screen record the video. I have not had any luck hearing back from the owner for a different link.
