Description
Arguing is a frustrating way to spend your days so learning how to deal with arguing child and teaching or parenting without power struggle is so important. Decrease arguing and power struggles while increasing socially acceptable conversation skills by using these visual tools to guide students through effective conversation skills.
These tools include a three leveled conversation monitor rating scale, an arguing advice detailed page explaining appropriate conversation strategies, and an arguing offenses page outlining actions and expressions that are inappropriate for conversations.
This Arguing Advice set includes
- 1 Arguing Advice grid with a white background and one with colorful boxes
- 1 Arguing Offenses grid with a white background and one with colorful boxes
- 3 Versions of the Conversation Monitor with printable arrows
- How to Directions
These tools are effective strategies to use for both general education students and students with learning disabilities including autism, Aspergers, ADHD, or emotional disability. Print the charts you choose to use for the targeted student.
The small monitor can be used for students to keep at their work areas, in their folders or even wear on a lanyard around the neck. Glue the printed chart on construction paper or cardstock. Laminate and cut out.
Use the supplied arrow and tape/glue it to a clothespin. This allows the teacher to move the arrow to the appropriate category. If a clothespin is too cumbersome, use a paperclip to easily move around.
I highly recommend that this tool is taught and used during one-on-one teaching time before used for situational motivation.
See what happy buyers are saying about the Arguing Advice Visuals:
“Great product! I have looked through countless materials to find just this! It will hopefully work well as a visual for prompting with one of my kiddos. Thanks!”
“This was so helpful for my one student with Autism and helpful for ME to see that if such a resource exists...he can't be the only one like this! :)”
"This is such a great resource for social skills. I had a couple students who could have reciprocal conversations, but they would always end up in arguments. That really impacted their ability to maintain friendships. I utilized this tool often in therapy, and also provided it to teachers to help in the classroom."
“I have given this as a resource for some of my parents to use at home and they love it to demonstrate positive reinforcement!”
"I love this! I’ve been looking for something like this for a while and just stumbled upon this last week. Can’t wait to use this in my classroom! Thanks so much for this resource!"
