PDF Presentation: "Op Art Using Line and Value"
The "Op Art Using Line and Value" presentation starts out by looking at how the lines of a waving flag give it the illusion of going towards and away from you, and then point out where the shading is the darkest and lightest. Next, the presentation looks at how converging lines and value changes in a landscape can create the illusion of space. This will lead into the "Negative Positive Value Scale" lesson.

PDF Presentation, "Op Art Using Contrasting Colors"
The"Op Art Using Contrasting Colors" presentation looks at how contrasting colors are used in real life situations to get your attention. Using the grocery store as an example, apples, carrots, and potatoes are used to show how packaging and display surfaces can help those produce appear brighter. The last half of the presentation gives some cautionary examples of how value is also an important element in combining typography and background colors.
Contrasting Colors Lesson
The "Contrasting Colors" lessons give students a chance to create some color wheels and value scales as a way to remember and reference the information in the presentation. There is a pre-assessment that can be given to student before hand, to demonstrate new learning, once the lesson is over. There is also a label that students will fill out at the end of the worksheets, where they will pick 2 contrasting colors and describe why they are contrasting. This will not only serve as a post-assessment, but the label can also be used for the "Waving Flag" op art lesson.
