Description

Finding Australian History resources with a bit of character and pizzazz is no easy feat. They can be dry and uninspiring, but now learning about the gold rush has never been more fun and colourful.

What is it?

This set of colourful and engaging Fact Cards explores some of the key events and players in the Australian Gold Rush.

Aligning primarily with HSIE Stage 3/HASS Year 5-6 units on Australia as a Nation these cards give short biographies and contextual information on the Australian goldrushes and their significance in the building of Australia as a nation. The cards with provide information about gold, how and where the gold rushes began, what life was like for miners, key issues and significant events.

The cards are all written based on my own knowledge, research and in child friendly language. Each card is simply designed, colourful and features illustrations completed by myself - found in my Gold Rush Clip Art pack.

The download includes versions in A4, A5 and A6 so you can print to suit the purpose.

Sure they're cute, but what will I do with them?

They can be used for student-led research projects (simple explanations and student friendly language), guided exploration of the topic - eg. up on a SMARTboard, collaborative research eg. read, explore and share findings with the class, for teacher background information to help you help them, reading group activities for comprehension, skimming and scanning and summarising tasks to complement a HASS/HSIE unit.
