What educators are saying

I used this with an intern who needed to teach a lesson. It was very easy for her to use and the students enjoyed it. Would be great to leave for a sub too.
I love using this on the first days of school to gauge students working together. Very fun to see their creativity and differences.

Description

This STEM activity is fantastic for all ages. It is engaging and meaningful. In my classroom, I grouped students heterogeneously. Then I gave them the challenge to construct the longest paper chain out of just ONE piece of construction paper. After an initial time period for sketching ideas, each group constructed their paper chain. Upon completion, we measured the chains in inches two at a time, eliminating the shorter chain, until we were left with the "winner". After each measurement, we recorded the responses on the Data Log worksheet. We then took that information and created a graph. After that, we calculated the mean, median, mode and range of the set of class results. Finally, we reflected on our activity and our partnerships. SO MUCH FUN AND EDUCATIONAL TOO!!! ENJOY! Please rate if you get the chance! Thanks!
