Description

Not sure what art lesson to do on the first day of art? Get to know your students with this no-prep art activity that is easy enough to do during the first week of school. The list of adjectives, pattern ideas, and step-by-step instructions will have your students jumping right into this lesson on the first day back to school.

This fun and engaging art lesson is perfect for elementary art classes and older students such as Middle School. With just a few supplies, you can teach your students how to use their names and 3 descriptive words to create a work of art. This resource has what you need to prepare 2 different levels of this lesson to differentiate the activity to meet your students' skill levels.

This hands-on activity will also allow your students to experiment with different art media such as markers, crayons, colored pencils, and maybe more (that's up to you).

Oh, and if it's not the first day of art, that's ok. You'll still have fun!!

Your Students Will:

Use the planning page to pick out adjectives that describe them.

Then, design their page using their name and adjectives.

Finally, add patterns to their work.

Experiment with media when adding color to their work.
