Description

Finding nonfiction texts at an appropriate level for kindergarten guided reading groups is a difficult (and often expensive!!) task. With the increased expectation of kindergarteners reading nonfiction texts based on the Common Core Standards, it is crucial that teachers have access to leveled nonfiction books that their students can read (and want to read!!) With that thought in mind, I have created this book (and will be creating many more!!)

This book is written at an approximate level C. Many sight words are used to support early readers as they begin to read nonfiction text.The complete text of the book is included below, so you can see if it will meet the needs of your students.

Title Page: Baseball
Page 2: We like baseball. Baseball is fun to play.
Page 3: Here is a bat. You can hit the ball with the bat.
Page 4: Here is a mitt. You can catch the ball with a mitt.
Page 5: Look at the helmet. You put it on your head when you hit the ball.
Page 6: This is a baseball. It is white with some red on it.
Page 7: Look at the girl. She can hit the ball.
Page 8: Look at the boy. He can hit the ball, too.
Page 9: The girl can run. She is going so fast.
Page 10: The boy can run, too. Go! Go! Go!
Page 11: We love to play baseball. Do you like baseball, too?

This book includes the same text on both the top and bottom of each sheet of paper to make copying, sorting, stapling, and cutting easy to create a class set of little books!!
