Description

This box and whisker plots color by number activity includes two print and one digital version, offering engaging and versatile practice, while adding the mindfulness, wellness, and quietness coloring brings.

  • Coloring in math has been shown to help reluctant students feel more comfortable with math:-)

The box and whisker plot problems require students to identify:

  • First quartile
  • Median
  • Third quartile
  • Interquartile range
  • Range
  • Minimum
  • Maximum
  • Number that would be in each quartile, based on a number of students surveyed (in Version A only)
  • Data in terms of percent (25%, 50%, 75%) (in Version A only)

This easy-prep box and whisker plot resource includes:

1) Two print versions:

  • Print version A
    • Problem sheet with 20 questions (more challenging than Version B)
    • Coloring sheet
  • Print version B
    • Problem sheet with 15 questions
    • Coloring sheet – same pattern, different color scheme than Version A

2) One Google Slides version:

  • Same problems and same coloring as print version A
  • Students type their answers in the answer box
  • Students use the ‘Fill color’ bucket to color the shapes
  • Questions are not editable (they are in the background) but the shapes and numbers in the pattern ARE movable.
  • Link to Google Slides is after the print items in the PDF download.
