Description

Cause and Effect is such an important skill! It's the foundation of stories- the 'what' and the 'why.' But, it can sometimes be hard for young learners to grasp. This interactive PowerPoint introduction and engaging follow-up activities not only make teaching this skill effective, but also FUN!

If you like my best-selling Decoding Strategies packs, you will LOVE this Comprehension Strategy pack! It has everything you need to teach and reinforce Cause & Effect in a fun, exciting way!!

In keeping with my character packs, this one has Cause & Effect Cat to help make the strategy more memorable and engaging, but the character is optional- I also included posters and materials without the cat as an option.

INCLUDED:

Teacher guide Detailed suggestions and notes to implement. Perfect for grades 1 and 2, but many activities can also be used in K and for struggling learners in grade 3.

Interactive PowerPoint Slideshow 77 slides that break down the concept into easy steps (see preview for some of the slides) Includes passages and pictures to help demonstrate cause and effect in a simple way for kids to easily grasp. *Also includes the slideshow in pdf form, for those who don't have access to PPT.

Comprehension Skill Posters: 2 options available (with and without the cat)

Key Vocabulary Poster: for kids to start becoming familiar with signal words

Reading Passages FIVE Differentiated passages, three versions of each:

Version 1- Students use the picture word bank to help them read the passage, then cut and paste sentences in the cause and effect chart.

Version 2- More difficult text. Students cut and paste sentences into chart.

Version 3- Students find the cause and effect in the text on their own.

What's the Cause? cards 24 cause and effect matching cards, plus suggestions for multiple ways to use.
