Description

Understanding cause and effect relationships is an essential reading comprehension skill that takes lots and lots of practice for students to master.

That’s where this 3-Day Cause and Effect Unit comes in.

This Cause and Effect mini-unit provides numerous opportunities to develop the skill of determining cause and effect relationships. Through creative activities like a Cause and Effect Match-Up game, Cause and Effect Charades, and Cause and Effect toss, students become actively involved in their learning.

Direct instruction on cause and effect and a cause and effect writing activity further develop students’ reading comprehension skills. With cause and effect worksheets and graphic organizers, students build their reading skills. Six original cause and effect passages also help students master the skill of identifying causes and effects. This unit is designed to engage students as they improve their critical thinking and close reading skills. It's also easily adaptable to literacy centers!

Great News! The student packet is also available as a Google Slides resource for students. In addition to the PDF version, students can complete the packet pages via a file sharing service such as Google Drive, Google Classroom, or in the internet “cloud.” The digital version of the packet is accessible from any computer and allows students to complete their work online.

* FYI: The anticipatory set activities that accompany each lesson are NOT in a digital format. They will still need to be printed for students due to the hands-on and interactive nature of the activities
