Chain Letters 1 and 2 Algebra Puzzles, Sub Plans, First Day, Warm Ups
What educators are saying
Description
This is both my Chain Letters puzzle and Chain Letters 2 offered as a bundle.
An engaging puzzle, students find the value of "A", transfer that value to the next problem to find "B", and so on until "Z". They then use the code they have created to fill in a silly pun at the bottom. Two versions are included, same puzzle but with two different sayings. Puzzle is designed so that a student with pre-algebra level skills can work independently. Can be made a bit more challenging by whiting out the given numbers along the way. Would be ideal for sub plans or for when students need independent work. Students could also make a fun game by having a "race" through the chain with a partner.
Chain Letters 2 is a separate, more challenging puzzle, involving greater knowledge of negatives, multi step equations and basic exponents and square roots. It would make a good warm up/review of Algebra I for the beginning of a Geometry or Algebra II class.
I usually use the first as a first day activity for my Algebra I and Remedial Algebra classes and keep the second in my emergency sub plans folder.
Answer keys are included for all puzzles.
AND NOW: TPT Easel version included for distance learning or electronic submission. Textboxes are already set up, so it's ready to go!
