What educators are saying

My students have been loving this project! We are using it a little bit like the game of Life. They have to pick from cards I created to determine if they are married, have children, etc. It has been extremely engaging!
My students loved and hated this project! The hate came from a low paying career and the realization that they had to do a lot with a small salary. The discussions were fantastic and everyone was engaged. Excellent product which I highly recommend.

Description

Want an engaging Career Lesson that will help kids understand the connection between lifestyle and salary? This Adulting Lesson is a great addition to any career and college awareness program. Students will learn all about budgeting and financial management as they enter the adult world, obtain a career, get paid a salary, make lifestyle choices, and pay bills. It's not until the end will they figure out if they can stay within a budget.

●●● Students are given a career with a salary. Their salary cards describe their career, show the median average salary for that career and indicate the training needed. (Later on students will use these cards during bill paying to determine how much their student loan payment will be!) Student will then determine how much income tax and social security is taken from their monthly salary. Students pick an insurance plan, examine their wants and needs, chose a home, and pay monthly expenses.

●●● A few surprise bills are thrown in too. Students are also introduced to the rule of percentages and will calculate how much savings and retirement they should be saving each month. They will have fun learning and seeing how far their money goes!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❝My students loved and hated this project! The hate came from a low paying career and the realization that they had to do a lot with a small salary. The discussions were fantastic and everyone was engaged. Excellent product which I highly recommend.❞ ~ Robin G.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❝This really got my students thinking about their futures and budgeting needs. It led to great discussions about wants versus needs, and how students can fulfill their needs on certain salaries.❞ ~Jennifer A.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❝This is a great resource to help students realize the expenses they will incur once they are on their own. Each lesson allows students to make their own decisions based on what is important to them and their career choices. As the teacher, this gave me several opportunities to talk about life choices and drill the concepts of wants verses needs. I work with high school students who are working towards a high school diploma.❞ ~Alissa N
