This "secret message" activity will amuse your students and teach them about ordering rational numbers including integers and positive and negative fraction and decimals.
Directions are printed at the top: In each row, determine which set of three rational numbers are listed from least to greatest. Circle the letter next to the set that is arranged from least to greatest.. The first one has been completed for you.
At the end, read the message from top to bottom. It reads, "Don't be so negative" (The other letters spell "Graph the integers").
These 16 problems all involve arranging 3 different positive or negative numbers. Students will also need to convert fractions to decimals, or decimals to fractions in order to compare them.
And all you have to do is copy it! The prep is all done for you.
You can get this activity and 12 more in the Secret Message Math Bundle. Your students will also love getting out of their seats to form one of the Human Number Lines.
