Description

My students were struggling with finding and researching careers that interested them. They didn't know where to look or even what they were looking for. That's where this project idea was created. This comprehensive job search unit contains everything a student will need when researching a job. By the end of this project, the students will have:

  1. Completed a career profile.
  2. Found & researched two jobs that interested them based on career profile results.
  3. Written a paper on ONE job of interest.
  4. Completed a resume.
  5. Filled out job applications.
  6. Created a visual aid and presentation to their class on their chosen job.

There are links with steps provided for the initial career interest inventory, graphic organizers that students can fill in for their initial research, resume, paper, and presentations, and rubrics upon which to grade the students.

You will literally be able to print this activity and go. You can also upload it to Google Docs if you prefer working digitally. Everything is at your fingertips. My students LOVE this assignment, and I love being able to work them through this process.

The only item not included are sample job applications, but these are easily found by doing an online search. I found a variety that could be easily printed, and using online ones made the students feel like they were completing an application for a real-life job. If you need me to send samples one to you, I would be more than happy to scan and upload them straight to your email.

By the end, you will have an abundance of writing samples, students will have gained a better knowledge of a desired career, and they will have a presentation completed. It's a win-win for everyone!
