Conflict Resolution Skills
These scenarios focus on teaching children how to work through conflicts and problems with others. Other skills targeted within the situations also include self-control, managing emotions, problem-solving, following rules, social expectations, working well with others, taking responsibility, apologizing, advocating for self, and more. When you use these as conversation starters, many other SEL skills will come up!
Over 100 Real-Life Scenarios for Elementary Learners
With over 100 situations specifically for elementary learners, there is lots of practice for your students! Example scenarios include:
- On a group project, both you and your partner want to be the illustrator. There can only be one. What do you do?
- During reading, someone took the seat you wanted to sit in. What do you do?
- You kept poking a friend to try and be funny, but now they are upset with you. What do you do?
- You and a friend are sharing crayons. You both want to use the same color. What do you do?
- You are playing a game with a friend, but they are not following the rules. What do you do?
- You tried to tell a joke, but a friend told you it hurt their feelings. What do you do?
Conflict Resolution Strategies
Student worksheets are included to teach about conflict resolution and provide strategies to choose from. Some strategies include talking it out, finding a win-win, walking away, and more. A printable poster is included to provide to students individually or post in your classroom.

Ways to Use Conflict Resolution Cards
- Post a daily question of the day
- Use a question a day to start your morning meeting
- Add cards to different centers around the room
- Use as journal entry questions

- Place cards on a ring and read one during down time or transitions to strengthen social skills
