Description

Converting Metric Measurements Game: Are you working with your students on the following standard: 5.MD.A.1 "Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system." If so, using this game is a great way to reinforce the standard.

You can now buy this game in a bundled pack of math games by clicking HERE.

Watch the BUNDLED Pack preview video. Watch VIDEO here.

================

How does the game work? Students will roll, solve, and then go. On a student's turn, they will roll the dice one time. They will then move that many spaces. They will convert the measurement listed in the space they land on. Depending on the spot where they land, students will either:

■ Convert g to kg

■ Convert kg to g

■ Convert km to cm

■ Convert ml to l

■ Convert l to ml

■ Convert m to mm

■ Convert m to cm

■ Convert m to km

*Although this game does not include all metric conversions, this game will help reinforce the conversion process.

For example, they may land on a space that has "2.4 km= ____ cm" or "6 kg = _____ grams".

I have included a conversion sheet if students need to make reference to it before they make their calculations.

Their partner will check the answer using the key. If they get it right, they get to stay where they are. If they miss it, they move back 1 space. The first one to the end wins the game.

**Please, ... if you are unsure about anything with the game or you have questions, I would appreciate if you send me a message before purchasing. I want you to be happy with the activity. :-) Thank you.**

NOTE: This is a black/white game with black line graphics. There is NOT a color copy included. When I created this for my own class, I decided to make something that took few copies, something that would save my ink, something that had easy directions, and was very little prep work. :-)

This converting metric measurements game will work perfectly as a math center during math rotations.

Please look closely at the thumbnails and preview to make sure the fractions I chose will work for you.

For this game, you will need a dice, game markers, the game board, the answer key, conversion chart, and notebook paper.

Your students are sure to have fun as they play.

PLEASE... if you ever see that I made a mistake or an error on the answer key, please allow me a chance to get it corrected for you. I can usually do so very quickly. I have two sets of eyes look at everything, but we might miss something here or there. Not much, but it can happen. Thank you ahead of time! It is greatly appreciated. Just send me a message on my Q and A, and I will get it taken care of.
