Description

Do you use Creative Curriculum’s Teaching Strategies Gold in your classroom? After working with this program for over 10 years, I have found each year, as I approached a new curriculum, I was scrambling to come up with the materials I would need for each unit. With this set, you won’t have to! Utilizing this set in your classroom, you will have all of the materials necessary to create an Anchor Chart reflecting the “Buildings” unit. This downloadable set includes the TSG Anchor Chart topics of:

  • What do we know about buildings? What do we want to find out?
  • What do the buildings in our neighborhoods and other places look like?
  • Who builds buildings? What tools do they use?
  • What are buildings made of? What makes them strong?
  • What is special about our building?
  • What happens inside buildings?

Each topic features child-friendly picture cards to correspond with each topic, prompting active teacher-student discussion and interaction. Exploring each topic, students can share what they know about Buildings in a way that makes sense to them, with topic questions and visual aides that are targeted towards young visual learners.

In addition, this set includes:

  • 2 versions of Questions of the Day - one set with text only, one set with visual supports
  • Questions and visual support for the Guided Edition
  • Clickable links to learn more about trees, as well as 3 pages of suggested books
  • Ideas to celebrate and extend learning: "strong" versus "not strong" and "yes I've seen it" vs "No, I haven't" labeling activities
  • Buildings scavenger hunt
  • Buildings activities to do in the classroom
  • Blueprint papers for students to create their own buildings
  • Community Helpers Match game

To best use this set, print, laminate, and cut. I prefer to add a small magnet piece to the back of each item, so that I can use it with my students on our white board. The pictures used in this set are surrounded by a black square, and are the perfect size for young children to utilize themselves, with guidance. While this set is designed around the TSG curriculum, the opportunities for use are endless!

We hope you enjoy this product and find it helpful for you and your students. Remember to leave feedback and let us know how it works for you!
