Description
This readers' theater is an adaptation of Doreen Cronin's book "Diary of a Worm." There are 5 parts included in the script as well as ideas for grouping students and presentation. The story of "Diary of a Worm" performed as a readers' theater is a great choice for cross curricular integration between ELA, science, and drama.
The goal of this product is to encourage oral reading fluency through repeated reading as well as engaging students through the use of movement and rehearsal. Readers’ theaters are great way to engage all students at whatever level that they are comfortable with.
Research done on repeated reading shows us that reading fluency is greatly improved with four repeated readings of the same material. Reader’s theaters are a great way to encourage student to read a passage more than once and easily holds their attention, something that most traditional texts have a hard time doing.
