Description

Are your students struggling to read and write words with beginning and ending digraphs? This packet is perfect to introduce and reinforce digraphs in centers, small groups, or independent work.

The following digraphs are covered in this pack: CH, SH, TH, WH, PH, KN, WR, CK, NG

Reference Charts- Use these charts to introduce the digraphs in whole group or model using them as a reference in reading and writing. Each digraph has a poster in color and black/white with picture and word examples. You can print them full page to hang on a wall or print them smaller to put on a ring.

Read and Draw- Students read words with examples of each digraph and draw their own illustration. The following pages are included:

Sort it Out-Students cut and sort words by their digraph. The following pages are included:

Silly Sentences-Students read the silly sentences and draw their own illustration. Each page covers 1 digraph. 10 pages are included.

Silly Story-Students write their own silly story and circle words with digraphs.

Silly Stories-Students read silly stories and draw an illustration to m9atch. Then students find the words with the matching digraphs. The following stories are included:

Super Spelling-Students fill in the word beside the picture. There are letter boxes to help them and a word bank. Each page has various digraphs. 6 pages are included.

Flipbooks-Students cut/sort the words or pictures into the flipbooks. These are perfect for a center or as a formative assessment on reading words with beginning and ending digraphs. The following flipbooks are included:

Sorting Cards-Students sort picture cards into categories based on the digraph. Each picture card includes the word with a missing space for the digraph. Each sort comes with a recording sheet, so they are perfect for a word work or pocket chart center. The following sorts are included:

ng/kn words

Fill In Cards-Students can use magnetic letters or dry erase markers to fill in the missing digraphs on the picture cards. Each digraph has at least 8 cards in color and black/white but several have a lot more. 64 cards are included.

Match It Up Cards-Students can play a game of “Memory” or simply match the picture and word cards up in a center. You can also use these cards at your small group table as a quick warm-up or word work game. Each digraph has at least 6 words in color/black white, but most have a lot more. 120 word and picture cards are included.

Digraph Books-These half-page books are perfect to use in small group to practice fluency and reading words with each digraph. Each digraph comes with a cover page and at least 4 pages to read. Every page includes strong picture support for struggling readers. Example pages include:

The flash was shiny.

The sack was full of tacks.

Games-After students have been introduced to each digraph, these games are perfect for fast finishers to play or to use in small group for review. Each game comes in color and black/white. The following games are included:

Cover 5--Students roll the dice and cover a picture with the matching digraph. 2 versions are included.

Spin and Cover--Students use a pencil and paper clip to make a spinner and cover a word with the matching digraph. 2 versions are included.

Roll and Color--Students roll a dice and read a word from the matching column. 2 versions are included.

Clip It--Students clip the correct digraph on each card. You could also have them circle the digraph with a dry erase marker or use a block to mark it. 60 cards are included in color and black/white.

Craftivities--Each digraph also has its own craftivity for a bulletin board or as a fun class project. The following crafts are included:

My “Ch” Chips-Students write words with “ch” on their chips in the bowl.

Fishing for “Sh” Words-Students make an aquarium and write “sh” words on the fish.

Bathing “Th” Words-Students make a bathtub and write “th” words on the bubbles.
