Explorers - Canada - 16 Graphic Organizers
This resource includes organizers for fifteen explorers that made an important contribution to Canadian history:
John Cabot, Jacques Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, James Cook, Leif Ericson, John Franklin, Simon Fraser, Martin Frobisher, Humphrey Gilbert, Samuel Hearne, Henry Hudson, Sieur de La Salle, Alexander Mackenzie, Pierre Radisson, David Thompson, and George Vancouver.
Each explorer has a graphic organizer for students to complete with entering simple biographical facts, the explorer’s important accomplishments, and what we can find today at the sites or area of exploration.
Students are also provided space on each sheet to draw a map of the explorer’s route(s). Each page includes a picture that represents the explorer.
This activity is designed so that it is flexible for the classroom teacher to use: it can be used as an introductory activity, a small research project, a review activity, or as a part of individual project or a classroom display. It will help the student organize information on various explorers. It is also designed so that teacher can use all or some of the organizers as it suits their class's needs.
I have included more than two pages of an answer key with a summary on each explorer as well as a Table of Contents. Not all data on each explorer is included in the answer key but the basic information included should serve as a guideline for the classroom teacher.

Please have a look at my guided biographies on various explorers available in my store. I have a bundled set as well (Cabot, Cartier, Champlain, Hudson, La Salle, and Thompson). These guided biographies are a great way to introduce students to both biography and research and also serve to develop their critical reading skills.
