Description
This lesson plan on the election process in America covers everything from nominations through voting with a variety of activities to keep your students engaged.
The download includes a PowerPoint (and Google Slides version) guided notes worksheets, flipped classroom video, readings for stations or groups, interactive notebook activity, and lesson plan.
The PowerPoint covers the entire election process with simple notes on things like nominations, caucuses, primaries, voting, voter behavior, and more. The included guided notes help students to stay focused.
There's also a fully-narrated "flipped classroom" video version of the presentation as well. The video can be assigned to watch at home, shown in class, posted for absent students to watch, or just used yourself to prep for your lesson.
Next, students analyze six Amendments that impacted elections and voting in American History: (12th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 24th, & 26th). There are short readings on each one and a graphic organizer worksheet students use. The lesson plan details how to use these as stations, in student groups, individually, or online through the included Google Doc version.
Finally, there's also an interactive notebook activity you can choose to use as well on voter turnout and things that can impact it in elections.
This activity can also be downloaded here as part of my Political Parties and Elections Unit Bundle.
