INTRODUCTION TO WRITING UNIT
This Unit focuses on how to organize and develop ideas for writing an essay. The students will be introduced to different types of essay writing (argumentative, compare & contrast, expository, narrative, and persuasive). Additionally, the lessons illustrate how to differentiate the types essays and how to develop thesis statements. The lessons include numerous examples of indicators and questions for each type of essay. The multiple choice resource includes 3 lessons covering: the basic structure and organization of an essay, identifying and correcting punctuation and capitalization errors, supporting and identifying main/supporting/unimportant details, identifying tone and voice, incorporating appropriate transitions, and identifying and correcting verb tense, pronouns, and homophones.

WRITING LEADS & SUMMARIES
This unit focuses introducing several different methods of developing writing leads and hooks and appropriate summaries for each type of lead. The students are introduced to various methods for beginning and ending essays. Also, the unit demonstrates how these methods address the 6 Traits in Writing.
