These estimating sums and differences task cards are perfect for 4th graders to use during math workshop. This will help your students meet the common core objective 4NBT.3-4 - using rounding to any place value as well as applying computation skills.

This activity/task card set comes with 20 task cards that have either an addition or subtraction problem on them. The numbers range in place value from the tens to the hundred thousands. Students will work to use rounding to help them estimate the sum by rounding to the highest place value.
There is a skill sheet included where the students estimate the sums or differences and write their final answer in the box. I have mine solve these in their head (no paper). .... great for a grade.
An answer sheet is also included.
This is the perfect math workshop activity, but it can also be used as a simple center or simply a cooperative activity done in partners as a whole class.
Use it however you would like in your classroom.
A set of blank cards is also included if you would like to write other numbers.
