What educators are saying

Great resource for my students with moderate and severe disabilities. Especially the ones that are very food motivated!
We did an attribute unit in math and this resource worked great for having students differentiate colors.

Description

Math Task Box: Sort the food by color

These hands-on task cards are a fun math activity for young learners. Students will identify the food and color, then sort it on the place setting. Use the included 30 food sorting pieces or a variety of different manipulatives for hands on learning:

  • mini-erasers
  • plastic food
  • food themed counters

The full page placemats are a fun addition to a dramatic play center. Students can practice setting the table by matching the plate, cup, knife, spoon and fork. Then use plastic foods to sort by color.

What's Included?

  • 1 Task Box Cover
  • 8 Task Cards (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown)
  • 30 foods to sort
  • 9 large full page placemats (white option available to print on colored paper to save ink)
  • Class Data Collection Sheet for Color Recognition

Sorting Pieces - 2 options for use

1. Cut out the squares

2. Use a 1.5 inch circle hole punch to punch out the pieces for sorting

Task cards print 2 to a page. Once cut they fit perfectly in a plastic photo case for storage.
