These Math Concept Cards teach and provide extra practice with math skills surrounding decimal and fraction operations. Math concept cards are a great strategy to help learners acquire and practice math skills. The cards give simple and explicit directions on how to complete specific math problems, making it easy for children and young adults to follow along with the concept cards.
Fraction and Decimal Skills
The skills targeted in these concept cards include: adding and subtracting decimals, multiplying decimals, dividing decimals, converting decimals to fractions, reducing fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, multiplying fractions, and dividing fractions.
How to Use Math Concept Cards
Teachers can laminate the cards and place them on a ring for students. Then, during math practice, students can find and use the cards they need to complete problems independently. The goal is for students to become less reliant on adult prompts and support. Using math concept cards, students can become more independent learners with math. Eventually, the cards can be naturally phased out, as students will no longer "need" the cards.
Math concept cards are a great way to increase confidence and self-esteem with math. Additionally, they are an easy accommodation for students struggling with math. Allow students to use concept cards on math quizzes, assessments, or homework as a support.
