16 engaging Core French Speaking games and activities for Middle School French as a Second Language Students to get them talking are included. These games have been classroom tested and highly successful as students ask to play them over and over! Everything you need for these activities is included. Print, teach and have fun with your students while learning a language!
Included in this package is the following:
Rational: Reasons why I created these activities and how I have found success with them.
- Vocabulary practice: a list of speaking activities that can be played in pairs, small groups or whole class to allow students practice with the vocabulary before the game is introduced
- Game 1: 'Comment t'appelle tu?' Race: Instruction card explaining how students compete while speaking
- Game 2: 'Comment ça va?' Race: Instruction card explaining how students compete while asking and answering 2 questions in French
- Game 3 & 4: Zip and Popcorn - ask answer type games with instruction cards included
- Game 5: Sept: a very popular game that is taken from the idea of 7-up in English. A French twist is used with all cards needed to use this game right away with your class.
- Game 6: Bateaux: battle ships where students say phrases or words to ask if they have a hit on their opponents boat. 4 game cards are also included (even Harry Potter or Star Wars templates!).
- Game 7: Vocaboo: Highly popular game similar to bingo that can be used year round. This game allows teachers to use with any vocabulary being practiced. Game card is included.
- Game 8 and 9: 'Dessinez-vite!' and 'Action!': Detailed explanations of 2 engaging games using drawing and acting skills. These 2 games are small group or whole group activities where students have a chance to use art and drama as well as practice their French speaking skills
- Game 10: Simon dit - Simon says game where students repeat after the teacher
- Game 11: Beach ball buzz - teacher writes phrases on the beach ball and it is tossed around the room for students to answer.
- Game 12 & 13: Scoot and circle chat have students speak then move. This one is great to get students up out of thier seats.
- Game 14: Voyage à Paris is where students use the colourful game board to compete against a classmate while using their language skills
- Game 15 & 16: Teacher Ball & Pop tart: teacher tosses an object and students answer and pop tart incorporates speed of language. Both engaging and great for whole class reviews.
- Cards: 16 highly visual posters for the phrase <Comment ça va?> that can be used with the games or to display in the classroom. Regular and mini versions included.
