    Full Cicada Moon by Marilyn Hilton is a poetry narrative. This PDF packet is a novel study guide including comprehension questions, story elements, character analysis, and classroom posters (freebie).

    Reading Comprehension Packet:

    • 1 comprehension question per poem = 139 questions

    Examples of questions from Reading Comprehension Packet:

    • Poem 3: Waxing Gibbous - A waxing gibbous moon is when the moon is getting brighter on the path toward a full moon. She then makes a wish on that moon. Explain how this idea is foreshadowing the development and outcome of the overall story.
    • Poem 5: Arriving - In the poem, “Arriving,” why does the woman on the train disbelieve that Mimi is her Mama’s daughter at first? When the woman finally “sees,” why does Mimi stick her tongue out at her?
    • Poem 7: First Night - In the poem, “First Night,” the text states, “This house creaks/like it can’t find a comfortable place to settle into./I toss and turn/and can’t find a comfortable spot to sleep in.” What are Mimi’s feelings based on the personification of the house?

    Character Analysis Packet:
