Description
In this back to school activity, kids will create a fortune teller craft while getting to know each other. This craft involves art, working with peers, writing, and following directions. Kids make their own fortune teller from a list of over 100 getting to know you questions. Then, they will color, cut, and fold their craft. Afterwards, kids can use their fortune teller crafts to ask partners questions and lean about new friends.
How to Use
This resource includes options for students to make their own personalized fortune tellers with a list of questions OR for teachers to pass out pre-made fortune tellers with questions already listed on the crafts. Sixteen unique fortune tellers are included to pass out to students.
Once students have their fortune teller questions listed (or pre-made questions), they will color, cut, and fold the craft. Detailed student directions with photos are included to help kids fold their craft most efficiently. Students may then work with one partner or do "around the room" style and meet with several partners to ask questions from the fortune tellers. Students will use organizers to write down information they learn about each of their partners along the way.
At the end of the activity, it can be fun to share out interesting facts about the classmates students met with.
What's Included
- 4 lists of getting to know you questions, with a total of over 130 questions. Topics for questions include: yourself, activities, school, and silly & fun.
- A blank fortune teller for students to write their own personalized questions on.
- 16 pre-made fortune tellers are also included with questions already listed on them.
- Student response worksheets to write down information as they learn new facts about classmates. Several different worksheets are included (with and without graphics) for you to choose from.
- Detailed instructions for the educator, outlining specific directions for before and during class time.
- Detailed student directions, both for folding directions and during activity time. You can post these in the classroom and leave them at tables to keep all students on track.
