Description

Halloween and Candy Corn Poem: Original Poem and Activity for INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOKS. Learn some fun facts about candy corn with this original poem written by me. This is a perfect reading activity on Halloween or any day surrounding the holiday.

Please click on the preview above to get a better idea of what is included.

=======================

IMPORTANT---- I offer this SAME poem in two different formats. This particular poem is formatted for interactive notebooks. It is the exact same poem and questions just formatted differently from the full page version.

If you would like to purchase the one page poem with 6 text-based questions that go along with the poem, click HERE. You can then read the description to see which format works best for you.

=============================

This poem was written with 4th graders in mind, but it can be used with more advanced third graders or weaker fifth grade readers. Please use your best judgement.

This pack includes a short close reading poem about candy corn and Halloween. The poem is a half sheet, so it will work perfectly to glue into an interactive reading notebookk. Once glued into the interactive notebook, students can write their thinking out to the side of the passage.

In addition to the poem, there are three flippable activities (all printed on one sheet) for their notebook. One is on the definition of savor, one focuses on 4 questions related to the poem, and one focuses on listing other facts learned not asked about in the 4 questions.

Some of the fun facts included in the poem are things like the # of candy corn made per year, top selling candy for Halloween, candy corn made in a mold, takes 5 days, invented in 1880.... and more.

In addition to doing this activity as a whole group reading lesson, you could also have students do it during a literacy center. Feel free to use it in your classroom however you would like.
