In these Halloween puzzles, words are found forward, backward, up, down, and diagonally. I would consider them on the challenging side since students are looking for words in all directions. Keep this in mind when considering it for third grade and below.

I use word searches to introduce vocabulary or concepts, or even just give them as morning work. They are also great to use in writing if kids are in need of writing topic ideas. Perfect for a sub, too. Need a writing activity? Have your students pick some of the words from the list to use in a paragraph or a short story. This word search can be used as a literacy center or as an early finisher activity. Students can even practice putting the words in alphabetical order. It's also fun for indoor recess on a rainy day. The Halloween word search vocabulary can be used as an extension activity in many different ways.
