Digital Teaching Slides: These slides will take you through an entire lesson introducing a new high frequency word or heart word in an interactive way.
Review activities: A variety of hands-on review activities are included for day including: pocket chart sorts, games, and write the room.
Word Mapping Worksheets: Students will say the word, tap it, map it, trace it, and write it.
Additional Worksheets: Additional worksheets are included to practice each word. Just click the word on the table of contents to go straight there!
Build and Write Mats: A build and write mat is included for each word. These are a great addition to your literacy centers!
Interactive Books: These interactive books can be used in place of or in addition to the word mapping worksheets. Students will map the word, trace it, rainbow write the sounds, write it, and search and color it.
EDITABLE heart word centers: 4 editable centers and games are included to practice and review.
- Spin and Cover: Students will spin a word, find it, and cover it.
- Spin, Map, and Build: Students will spin a word and build it with magnetic letters.
- Roll and Build: Students will roll a word, build it, and cover it.
- Roll and Cover Game: Students will play with a partner. They will take turns rolling a word and covering it. The first player to cover all of their words wins.
Editable word lists: Editable word lists are included for tracking and sending home.
How the Heart Word and High Frequency Word Digital Slides will work:
- Slide one: You will say the word and students will repeat.
- Slide two: Students will tap and count the sounds.
- Slide three: You will map the sounds together.
- Slide four+: You will spell each sound together.
- Slide five: You will identify any heart parts and move the heart.
- Slide six: You will use the word in a sentence.
- Slide seven: Students will use the word in a sentence.
- Slide eight: Students will air write the word.
- Slide nine: Students will search for the word and move the star to the matching spots.
