Ocean Literacy Standards are used throughout the course.
Students will begin their study of Marine Science with class notes and activities designed to give them some background about the development and history of Oceanography. They will be introduced to key people, basic vocabulary terms, oceanographic equipment, and safety procedures for using a few types of ocean technology. Marlinspike and semaphore flags provide an engaging activity. The activities are fun and the information is so basic that as students move classes at the beginning of the year, they can quickly get up to speed.
