What educators are saying

students completed it as an activity when they returned home from break (re-engage after a long break)
I love these activity mats. I purchased a ton of these and will be using frequently. We work on coloring and writing skills. Great idea and these are a time saver.

Description

Holiday Memories: You know how it is...... you haven't seen your students in 2 weeks, they have had a wonderful Christmas, and they want to tell you all about it. Things are crazy after winter break though as you are trying to just get back into the swing of things (and probably wake up, too....LOL) This is the perfect morning work activity the day kids get back from the Christmas break. I usually have something like this on their desk, so they can get unpacked and get right to work. It's sort of a fun, "get back into the swing of things activity". It encourages them to recall and also to write.

What can you do with this poster? If your students still want to share orally, maybe you can let them present it later in the day. They are perfect to display in the hall or to keep in their writing journal. Just fold it in half and glue in. You can bind them into a class book for students to read. They would love reading what their classmates did over the holiday. The list goes on and on..... use it however you would like in your classroom.

The poster is 8.5 x 11 (landscape).

The sections for the students to fill out are:

**place for name... " _____'s Holiday Memories"

**Gifts I received.....

**Family and Friends I visited with....

**Choose one: I wanted a longer vacation. I'm glad school is back in session.

**Adjectives to describe my holiday vacation...

**2 snapshots, which are illustrations: My favorite gift and a Memorable Moment

**Write a sentence to tell about the illustration.

**Favorite treats I loved to eat....

**Writing lines to tell about a special memory.

Encourage your kids to fill in the entire writing space... offering other info, elaborating on their memory.

Use as a center activity or even as morning work. Use it in your classroom however you would like.

NOTE: This poster does have penguins as part of the pictures, so if you are from Australia where it's warm at Christmas, this might not work for you. Sorry about that.
