Description

I have some of my interactive notebook passages opted into the TpT Digital activity Tool. This video was created to share with you how you might use TpT's new Digital Activity Tool (which has been renamed Easel by TpT) with those interactive notebook passages. Students can then complete the questions and turn them back into you through Google Classroom.

If you buy my passages individually that I have opted into the TpT Digital Tool, you will see a link to click in your 'my purchases' area of your dashboard, and that is where you will access the digital tool format.

If you purchase a passage within a bundle or it is not opted into the TpT Digital Tool, you will NOT see a link to click on in your 'my purchases'. This is because my bundles are a zipped file. The tool doesn't allow for unzipping files at this point. So, what would you do? TpT has a solution. They have recently added a new feature where you can upload pdf files from your computer right into the digital tool. Basically, you would buy the file, download it, unzip it to save all of the passages on your computer, and then select the one you want to give your kids and upload it into the tool. No worries though, as it's super easy. My video shows this step. :-)

By TpT adding that upload feature, that means it can be used the same way with other .pdf files. It doesn't even have to be files from me or purchased on TpT. It allows you to upload files right from your computer as long as they are under a certain size.

The TpT Digital Activity Tool is an alternative to Google Slides, meaning it allows students to annotate the file/type on the file just like you might do with a Google Slide. TpT is continuing to update the TpT digital tool, so when you go to watch this video, the tool may even have some extra tools for students to use when annotating the file. Right now you and the kids can type on the file, center the text, color the text, change the font size, add shapes, highlight, and more.

This video will show you how you can remove some pages from the file that you don't want to assign to your students (like the answers and credits page), as well as show you how to type on the file, preview the file before assigning, and then show you how to click to add it to your Google Classroom.

If you have additional questions about the TpT Digital Tool, you can fill out a ticket through the contact form at the bottom of TpT's main page. Click the option of needing help with the Digital Tool and they should get right back to you.
