How to use the January Write the Room Math Centers:

  1. Hang up the math center cards around the room
  2. Students will grab a recording sheet and a clipboard
  3. They will search the room for the cards
  4. When they find a card, they will color or write the answer on their recording sheet

January Write the Room Math Centers:

  • Comparing Numbers: Students will search for the cards. They will identify both numbers and draw the correct sign to compare. Skills: comparing numbers

  • Snowman Shapes: Students will search for the cards. They will identify the shape and color the matching shape. Skills: 2D shapes

  • Penguin Place Value: Students will search for the cards. They will identify the teen number made by adding the tens and ones place together. Skills: base ten with teen numbers

  • Winter Addition: Students will count or add the mittens and snowballs. Skills: beginning addition, counting

  • Snow Globe Number Sense: Students will search for the cards. They will identify the number shown. Skills: ten frames, base ten

  • I Know Numbers: Students will search for the cards. They will identify the number and count on or identify 1 more or 1 less. Skills: counting on, one more, one less

  • Graph the Room: Students will search for the picture cards. They will count the amount and fill in the graph the match. Includes numbers to 5 or 10. Skills: Counting, graphing
