Description

This download provides links to a Prezi and a Google Slides presentation (downloadable as a Powerpoint) of Jim Crow photos. These photos were available on websites, so I am not charging, but I did put them together to use as a presentation. I also added some segregation photos from my own life as a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is one of the most segregated cities in America.

If you're teaching To Kill a Mockingbird, you've probably gone to Jim Crow websites, so this is nothing new. However, the Prezi (my one and only) makes it slightly more interesting, and my own personal photos, when explained, can add a lot to the discussion, since they are from the North and 60 years after Mockingbird.

Works just as well for Social Studies discussing race relations as it does for an activity with a novel. Use it on Martin Luther King Day and see how the kids feel about de facto segregation.
