Description

Does your school celebrate Read Across America Week®? If so, your students are sure to enjoy this fun reading themed word search. If your students are like mine, they love these. I use word search puzzles to introduce vocabulary, or even just give it as morning work to go along with a holiday theme or topic we are studying in class. They are also great to use for writing. You could have students practice their writing skills using some of the words from the word search and when they are finished, they get to complete the puzzle. Have them write sentences or a short reading themed story or informational writing. Maybe they could define the genres listed in the puzzle. Of course you don't have to do the writing part, you could simply use it for the puzzle.

In this reading themed word search, words are found forward, backward, up, down, and diagonally. I would consider it on the challenging side since students are looking for words in all directions. Keep that in mind when selecting for third grade and below.

This word search is perfect for a sub, too!!
