What educators are saying
Description
Every classroom in the world is comprised of students who learn differently. Our students are surrounded by peers who have learning disabilities, speech disorders, attention deficits, and more! Are we teaching our kids about these differences? Are we equipping them to help their peers and show empathy towards them? Have we empowered those who learn differently?
In this 4-part simulation, students will gain an understanding of how some kids learn, struggle, and feel during parts of their learning. Through the lens of social-emotional learning, our students will learn about self-awareness, managing emotions, changing behaviors, and developing empathy towards all types of learners.
Simulation 1 for Self-Awareness: Dysgraphia
Simulation 2 for Managing Emotions: ADHD and Auditory Processing
Simulation 3 for Changing Behaviors: Expressive Language and Articulation
Simulation 4 for Developing Empathy: Dyslexia
- Discussion questions are included after each simulation for whole-group or small group conversations.
- Six extension activities are also provided to further the students’ social emotional learning. Different versions of these are included so students of many ages and abilities can take part.
**The Simulation #2 for ADHD/Auditory Processing requires your students listen to and follow directions from an audio clip That audio file (included in this resource) is an mp3 and can be played through any computer or device.
