Description

Updated summer 2023

This 12-page lesson plan goes over eight steps of organizing a speech and putting together an outline. It covers specific purpose, central idea, introductions, conclusions, transitions, and the basics of outline format.

The plan includes activities, videoclips, quotes and examples. It also includes one page of optional activities if you wish to spend more time on one area, and includes a written assignment suggestion.

Lesson plan features are color-coded with orange for videos and activities, blue for questions to the class and important examples, and red for notes to the instructor. This system helps me make sure I am distributing interactive moments well through the class.

The lesson plan is designed to cover two 55-minute classes but can be adjusted either longer or shorter depending on the inclusion or exclusion of the optional activities. The lesson plan is complete to use without the Prezi if you wish to create your own PowerPoint slides or other media.

A link to the Prezi is included in the lesson plan. Instructions to access an editable copy of the Prezi are included with the lesson plan.

Additional organizational activities are available in my store. This resource is available as part of an organization bundle.

As a college-level instructor of communication classes for 15 years, I took joy in creating organized lesson plans full of interactive activities, practical advice and an occasional silly video to prompt discussion.
