Description

Are your students struggling to line up quickly and quietly? Well this “Line Up Survival Kit” is here to save you! It’s filled with great ideas, songs and chants to get your class lined up and moving quietly around the school!

Included in the pack:
- Line Up Order - 28 ideas on 7 pages
- Lining Up Chants - 16 songs and chants on 4 pages
- Line Up Challenge - 20 ideas on 6 pages

Print, cut and laminate the cards. Then punch holes in the top left corner and put them on a keyring. Keep the “Line Up Order” cards near your desk and hang the others by the door of your classroom for easy access!

When it’s time to for your class to line up grab the “Line Up Order” keyring and select a card at random. Ask your class to line up according to the card, e.g. by number of syllables in their names. At first you may need to call each group at a time and pre-teach the concept but with practice the children will be able to organise themselves in the correct order. This is a great problem solving skill, especially if they have to do it silently!

Once your class are lined up grab your “Line Up Chants” keyring. Select (or allow a child to select) a card at random and call out the chant. The children will love the surprise of each chant and quickly focus on copying your actions and singing along instead of chatting! As they become familiar with the chants you can just call out the first line and allow them to finish it.

Now your class are standing quietly by the door. Pick up your “Line Up Challenge” keyring and choose today’s challenge. Maybe they will have to pretend to be bubble catchers? Or ninjas? Or mice? Explain the challenge with lots of enthusiasm and be sure to praise them for their efforts if their mission is successful! (And enjoy the praise you’ll get for having the quietest class!).

Please rate if you find this pack useful (and earn yourself some credits!) and let me know if there is anything I can do to improve it or adapt it so it better suits the needs of your students.
