Lines of Symmetry Math Activity Valentine's Symmetry Worksheet for Writing
- PDF
Description
This symmetry activity idea came to mind because I have recently had several students tell me how much they love math. It happened to be around Valentine's Day and we were about to start a unit on Geometry. So, this seemed like a fun way for them to tell me all of the things they are loving about math class. Plus, it will make a fun display for the hallway or a bulletin board.
What is included? One symmetry writing page and one title page for your display.
On this activity page, students will draw in the other half of each letter in the word math. They will look at the pattern given on the left side of each letter and they will draw it on the other side of the line of symmetry to make the patterns symmetrical. They will then color each side to match. There are also heart patterns for them to complete. Students then get to write about what they love about math.
Does this have to be used for Valentine's Day? No. The page doesn't actually say Valentine's on it, so it can be used any time of the year. It simply has a heart theme and it's about love, so it works for a fun Valentine symmetry activity if you choose to use it that way.
These will make a fun and colorful hallway or bulletin board display. I have also included a title page for your display.
