Lunar New Year Lanterns | Chinese New Year and Tet

Celebrate Lunar New Year with these festive lanterns! 2 types of lanterns are included: cylindrical and spherical. The cylindrical lanterns come in 3 languages: English, Chinese, and Vietnamese! The Zodiac animals sometimes vary so both animals are included.

Note: This resource includes yearly updates for the cylindrical lantern to match the Zodiac animal so it's like getting a new resource every year! Now updated for 2024: The Year of the Dragon!

What's included?

• Cylindrical lantern templates (color and B&W) for younger students. The cylindrical lantern comes in English, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), and Vietnamese.
• Spherical lantern templates (color and B&W) which require a little more fine motor coordination. The spherical lantern comes with the animals for the Chinese Zodiac and the Vietnamese Zodiac.
• Directions for making the cylindrical and spherical lanterns are included.

There are 3 options for the cylindrical lantern:

1. Print the template in Color and use as a teacher model.
2. Print the template in B&W and have the kids color the lantern. Optional: Staple a bright colored paper behind it (yellow or orange) before cutting so that you can see the color through the lantern.
3. Print the template on red or yellow paper to make it more festive for the New Year. Cardstock or construction paper is recommended for cylindrical lanterns. Printer paper can be used for the spherical lanterns.
