Description

This is an awesome short art lesson called the Media Experiment that is used to teach students about different medias in art and how to use 4 medias: oil pastel, watercolor, tempera, and colored pencils. Students rotate around 4 different stations in a group.

This lesson is an excellent way to begin the year, semester, or quarter and get students excited about art class. This lesson introduces students to a variety of techniques such as color mixing, pastel blending, and the use of pressure. After the lesson, students are asked to answer questions about the media experiment and media in art.

This product includes the .pdf and .docx of the lesson plan. It also includes an example of a finished media experiment for teacher and student reference. The handout is comprised of 2 pages. The first page has four boxes labeled with the four medias. The second page has questions for students to answer. These questions get students reflecting on the media experiment and thinking about how media is important in art.
