Music Performance Rubrics for Elementary Grades
- PDF
What educators are saying
Description
These rubrics can be used with many grade levels in different ways.
The teacher can use these rubrics to record student progress in each skill. Students can use these rubrics to grade themselves or each other (they love this!). The students can use these to “grade the teacher” as the teacher purposely does some of the activities the wrong way and the right way (they like this one too!).The rubrics can be used as part of a portfolio assessment. The teacher assessment rubrics can provide data to show growth.
The student self/peer assessments have titles like Singing Star, Melody Magic, Rockin' Rhythm and Power Performance!
There are purposely several rubrics on one page for the teacher assessments to allow the teacher to have multiple weeks’ worth of assessments on one page, saving that “white gold’ –copy paper!
Most elementary music teachers do not necessarily need to keep individual grades, but these number scores can be used as evidence of progress in their students or as a way to identify areas that need to be strengthened.
