What educators are saying

This is probably one of my favorite resources that I have ever found on TPT. The lessons were engaging and my Honors students were put in charge of their own learning.
Incredible Night unit! My freshmen loved the activities, but walked away with a wealth of knowledge. The activities were interesting, but rigorous. I plan to use again!

    Description

Lessons & Activities for teaching Elie Wiesel's Night: This resource gets students engaged in thinking critically about Night. The lessons are designed to put the responsibility for learning on the students as they work together to discover the important elements and lessons in the text.

    The resource includes:

    • Pre-reading activities that have students thinking about stereotyping, prejudice, and racism. You will conduct several whole class discussions, and students will do some reading, research, and reflection. There is an option for a small group presentation. Rubrics are provided for both the response and presentation option.

    • While reading activities: This unit is not based around chapter questions, or activities that are mostly teacher-directed. Instead, students will work together to discover the important elements and lessons in the text. Click HERE for more detail.

    • Post reading activities ask students to investigate whether or not the world has really learned from Wiesel's message. Click HERE for more detail.

Finally, as an added bonus, this file includes a binder cover, spine and organizer sheets.

♥ I looked at DOZENS of resources or Night last year, and this was the best one I found BY FAR! I love that this resource includes so many different activities. If you are looking for a way to engage your students while also giving them most of the responsibility, this resource is perfect for you!
