Description
Your students will love completing these nouns, adjective and verb centers! There are so many fun and diverse activities included which are all designed to help your students master all things related to these parts of speech! There are 11 centers included in total. They cover so many key skills including sorting nouns by whether they are a person, place or thing, noun identification, common and proper nouns, using descriptive adjectives, identifying adjectives, identifying verbs, verb tenses (past, present, future) and so much more!
The activities included are:
1. Nouns, Adjectives and Verbs – Students sort the pictures by whether they are a noun, adjective or verb.
2. Find the Adjectives – Students choose an adjective card and search the mat for a picture it could describe. Can be played independently or in partners.
3. What’s the Noun? – Students choose the word that is the noun and write it on the sheet.
4. Common or Proper Nouns? – Students sort the words by whether they are common or proper nouns.
5. Verb Tenses – Students sort the verbs by whether they are written in past, present or future tense.
6. Adjective Sentences – Students add the adjectives to the sentences to complete them. (This one is really fun and hilarious!)
7. Person, Place or Thing – Using the mats, students sort the pictures by whether they are a person, place or thing.
8. Describe a Picture – Students choose a picture, list adjectives to describe it and then write a matching sentence.
9. Sorting Verbs – Students choose a strip and then decide whether the word is a verb or not. Then, they write the word in the matching box.
10. Parts of Speech – Students read the sentence and identify the word that is either the noun, adjective or verb (as specified on the card). Then, they write the word in the matching column.
11. Things I Can Do – Students brainstorm all the things they can do at these places (e.g. school, home, restaurant).
