Description
As I was on the hunt for resources to teach my students about habitats, I realized that there aren't very many out there that include REAL pictures of animals and their environments. To help my students reach the rigorous Common Core State Standards, I want to provide them with non-fiction resources that will connect them to the world around them. This is why I created this Ocean Habitat Non-Fiction pack loaded with real pictures of animals that live in the ocean habitat and true information about what it's like in the ocean.
Here's what's included in this ocean habitat pack:
- Vocabulary cards (includes a word card, a definition card, and a picture card for ocean words - ocean, habitat, dolphin, green turtle, great white shark, jellyfish, orca whale, coral reef, anemone, polyp, mammal, blowhole)
- Large posters featuring real pictures of the ocean habitat (included are ocean, habitat, dolphin, green turtle, great white shark, jellyfish, and orca whale)
- Informational texts about the ocean and the animals that live there (these are great to read to your students to kick off your habitats unit, to provide students as an extension, or as non-fiction research pieces when studying the ocean habitat)
- Plant, Animal, or Rock? (includes one close read text about the coral reef, vocabulary cards specific to the text, and five close read questioning pages)
- Dolphins (includes one close read text, vocabulary cards specific to the text, and five close read questioning pages)
- Ocean Habitat Mini-Close Read (includes one mini close read text PERFECT for young readers and ELLs who are just beginning to get the feel for looking closely at a text and one questioning page)
- Photographs (pictures of ocean animals)
- Extras (ocean writing page, exit ticket, and habitat Venn Diagram)
*This resource is also compatible with TpT Digital. You can tailor the activities to meet your students' needs by editing and removing pages, annotating, creating answer boxes, and more. Quickly and easily share these resources with your students through your Google Classroom!
