What educators are saying

My students loved this! I used it in a room transformation! They had a blast and I had students working HARD on a skill that they usually hate doing. THANK YOU!
Used this for interventions when going over citing textual evidence and it did just what I needed it to!

Description

CCSS RL1 and RI1 ask students to ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as a basis for the answers. This is what led me to create my PROVE IT! Text Detectives unit! In this unit, students will learn to refer to the text when answering text-based questions. I have included everything you need to introduce your students to citing the text in an answer!

The following are included in this unit:
--My lesson plan for introducing students about how to become text detectives

--5 practice pages for students to practice being a text detective over the following topics: character traits, context clues, main idea, theme, and inferring

--8 citing text evidence graphic organizers: one general PROVE IT! page, general text evidence chart, inferring chart, character traits chart, context clues chart, main idea chart, theme chart, and text structure chart. Each chart includes a space for students to PROVE IT with text evidence!

--"Good Readers PROVE IT" color anchor chart

--"Good Readers PROVE IT" student notes page in black and white

--PROVE IT Bookmarks in color and black & white with super sentence starters

--"Good Readers are Text Detectives" posters to create a text detective bulletin board! Includes titles posters as well as one poster for each sentence starter (13 posters total)!
