In third grade, students are learning about cultures of those around the world. This packet explains the great Mexican celebration of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.
Students are first asked to read an article about Dia de los Muertos, and then answer the questions using direct evidence from the text to PROVE THEIR ANSWERS. This is the one thing that I want my third graders leaving my class able to do, and I'm sure the fourth-grade teachers will be very happy they have this skill. :)
Students will then be shown the short film (which is available for FREE online), Dia de los Muertos. This is a 4-minute animated short film about the Day of the Dead. After this, students will answer video-based questions, again having to PROVE THEIR ANSWERS!
